Gertrude

Gertrude is an internet filter and parental control tool designed primarily for Mac computers (with a newer iOS companion app). It was originally created by a parent for personal use and later shared more broadly. Gertrude allows parents or accountability partners to set up child accounts with customized website permissions, block inappropriate content, and enforce safe browsing. It emphasizes simplicity, accountability, and trust-based oversight rather than surveillance-heavy features. While mission-aligned and used by Christian families for digital discipleship, Gertrude does not present verified nonprofit credentials or a clear commercial structure.
